Location
Named after the local Maldivian word for "turtle", Velaa Private Island was born out of the passion project of Radka and Jiří Šmejc. Located in Noonu Atoll and just a 45-minute seaplane flight away from Malé, Velaa is renowned for its contemporary luxury design, inspired by the generations of sea turtles that inhabit the island and its beautiful coral reef. Conceptualized by the renowned Czech architect, Petr Kolář, the resort features 47 villas, 18 of which are built over-water. Guests can enjoy magnificent sunrise and sunset views, direct access to the lagoon and reef, and a variety of exceptional culinary experiences. Velaa Spa also features the Cloud 9, a cloud-shaped reclining treatment pod created by the Viennese artist and perception researcher, Sha.
